Enhancing Passenger Well-being Through In-Vehicle Environment Monitoring – KIOS at EUCAD 2025
As part of the AutoTRUST project’s mission to create safer and more adaptive mobility systems, the KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence recently showcased its latest advancements at the 5th European Conference on Connected and Automated Driving (EUCAD2025), held at the JRC in Ispra, Italy.
Dr. Nearchos Stylianidis represented the Center, presenting our novel in-vehicle environmental monitoring solution. Developed under AutoTRUST, this system leverages smart sensors to monitor key air quality parameters—such as temperature, CO₂, humidity, VOCs, and PM2.5—directly inside the vehicle cabin. The data are streamed in real time to the KIOS IoT Platform, allowing for centralized analysis and visualization. This enables timely alerts, improved in-vehicle comfort, and data-driven decision-making that supports adaptive vehicle behavior.

As Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs) evolve, passenger well-being becomes a core requirement. Our solution contributes to that vision, helping build trust in next-generation mobility systems. Participating in EUCAD 2025 offered an invaluable platform to exchange ideas, explore synergies, and highlight the tangible steps AutoTRUST is taking toward inclusive, smart, and resilient public transportation.
